How to Turn Your Pinterest Traffic into Paying Clients With Vanessa Kynes

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Pinterest impressions and repins are great and all, but is it really worth the time and energy if no one is clicking over to your website and taking action? Today Vanessa Kynes is teaching us how to leverage our Pinterest traffic to actually get people to book our services or buy our products once they land on our website. And don’t worry, if getting Pinterest traffic to start with feels like a challenge, we talk plenty about Pinterest strategies to get you started!

It’s typically easy to understand why we should use something like Instagram or Facebook in our businesses, but many businesses are still ignoring Pinterest. Would you believe me if I told you that in the last 30 days, Pinterest accounted for 72% of all my “social” traffic to my website? Yep, I got more traffic from Pinterest than I do from Facebook or Instagram. And, people who come to my website from Pinterest are buying, are filling out the contact form, and are booking me. It’s time you made Pinterest work for you, too! Vanessa is going to get you started on the how.

Here is a preview of Vanessa’s Pinterest tips:

How do I figure out what keywords to use for my business?

Vanessa says a great place to come up with keywords is to start with what you do! When you put those keywords into your Pinterest profile, you will be able to also start building up your sub-keywords! Keep a list of these words that describe your work somewhere that you can always reference them!

Also, remember that as a service-based business, location can often be really important and may help you with keywords and searches.

Should my title and description match the copy in my pinned graphic?

Vanessa tells us that Pinterest actually can read the copy that you use on your graphic, which is CRAZY! But that isn't the main thing that drives searches or traffic.

So the copy on your graphics doesn’t necessarily need to match the pin description and title. In the title and description, you want to focus on using keywords that people are searching for. But you might want to use more power words on your graphic to make people want to click it.

How can Pinterest help boost me in Google searches?

In this episode, Vanessa says that Pinterest is QUEEN but Google is KING and we want to make them work well together. For example, Vanessa and I both have Pinterest boards that RANK on Google!

She says that one thing that really helps this is making use of ALT tags. While these were originally designed for people with visual impairments, they are being used for SEO too so you don't want to forget about them. Avoid using “cute names and descriptions” and use strong keywords to describe your content.
