What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a nine-point graph, and it's a personality assessment, kind of like a test. And there are nine different types. You might hear that and be like, wait, how are there only nine different types of people? Think about going to Lowe's to shop for house paint. So, you ask “Can I get the color blue?”They're going to say “Cool. What shade do you want?” There are thousands of different shades of blues, and that's how the Enneagram is.
There are nine types, but we're all so complex. There are so many different shades within each number, and so it's a personality system that helps you understand yourself. The enneagram focuses more on your internal world and why you do what you do rather than just your external behavior.
Self Care for Your Enneagram Type:
Tune in to the podcast to hear Callie walkthrough self-care ideas for each of the nine Enneagram types! She’s getting very practical and specific. Don’t worry, she’s not going to tell you to just go take a bubble bath. I love what she shared here, and she was SPOT ON for my type!
Practical Ways We Can Avoid Burnout in Our Businesses:
Callie answers my question about how we can avoid the burnout we so often see happen in our online business industry. Ya know... when someone’s business is thriving one minute and then we learn that they were struggling and burnt out behind the scenes. Callie says we have to take care of our businesses both internally, where our soul is, but also in external ways. Having the bigger picture of answering the questions of: Why did you start your business in the first place? Are you trying to help people? Are you inspiring people? Are you helping provide a skill that people don't know how to do?
It's about understanding your bigger reason for why you started your business in the first place. This is important because that empowers us to make the right decisions.
How to Identify Your 5 Essentials:
Callie has a system for making sure what matters to her goes on her calendar. She calls this her “5 Essentials”. Hers are marriage, spiritual life with God, finances, health, and community. She plans those five things every single day first, before planning her work. This way she knows if these five areas of her life are thriving. You’re going to love hearing her dive into this “5 essentials” concept and I think it can make a huge difference for all of us in how we structure our days.
Callie prompts us to ask “Is this helping me achieve abundance and the person God created me to be? Or, is this hindering that growth?"
Callie’s favorite book from 2019 is The Proximity Principle by Ken Coleman. Check it out on Amazon here!
