First off, let's get one thing straight … I LOVE to read! My husband often laughs at how much I get “into” the books I choose. There have been many times this year where I literally could not put the book down I was so entranced with the magic happening!
This is a list of the 18 books I read in 2018, plus my top picks for you to read. You’ll notice I read WAY more fun books than business books, haha. I explain why in the business book section! My fiction book taste is HEAVY on mystery/suspense, it’s my all-time favorite genre and has been for years!
Let’s dive in!
Business/Mindset Books:
Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller
Master Your Money Mind by Amber Lilyestrom
You’ll notice I hardly read ANY business books this year. I tried more business books than what’s listed here that I read ½ of or so but quit on because they didn’t capture me. I love for my reading time to be for relaxation and not work. I’m a huge podcast listener, and I like to get my business education via podcasts! But, with the short list of books here, I can honestly say that the 2 I loved, I REALLY LOVED. These two books were life and business changing for me, and I reference them both again and again on the regular. Both of these are MUST READS!
Fun/Fiction Books:
(These are ordered from my favorite to least favorite, but all in all, I’d give every one of these books 4 or 5 stars. I quit on books I don’t love, so you don’t see those here!)
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus
The Party by Robyn Harding
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine
Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finch
The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware
See any patterns here?! Haha! My top pick from this list is The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. It was such a fun read with tons of twists and turns! But, I literally loved ALL of these books, and would recommend them to anyone who loves this genre!
Self-Growth:
(I adored ALL of these books except The Miracle Morning. You can read about why here. I have reread Food Freedom Forever multiple times as a refresher, it’s the best!)
A Simplified Life by Emily Ley
The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile
Food Freedom Forever by Melissa Hartwig Urban
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
Spiritual:
Everybody Always by Bob Goff
Planted Study by Well-Watered Women
The Dawning of Indestructible Joy by John Piper (Advent study)
Reflections by Jim Branch (Bible study on the book of Matthew)
As we roll into 2019, I have a goal of reading 19 books! (Get it?! In 2018 I read 18 books, and in 2019 I want to read 19!) I’ll start off the year midway through 2 incredible books: A Confident Heart by my friend Renee Swope and Love Does by the one and only Bob Goff! I’m loving both of these so far. I also hope to read the entire Bible through in 2019. This is a HUGE goal to conquer and I can’t wait to see how the Lord works in me through this process. You can see the One Year Bible I purchased for this here.
Tell me below, what’s on your 2019 reading list?! I’d love to hear your recommendations!
