I always love an “ask me anything” podcast episode, don’t you? In my end-of-year survey last year, we have over 150 questions come in, and I’m answering eleven of them today! This won’t be your typical episode (so while you can skim this blog post you will have to tune in to catch my answers!), but I did have a lot of fun creating it for you and think it’s chockfull of value. If you love “behind-the-scenes business owner” style posts, I got pretty detailed with some of these answers.
While the questions might seem kind of random, I think that’s what’s so fun about it! I always love hearing what you guys think so I chose questions that had a more personal spin - whatever that looked like! So while you can skim the questions we cover below, make sure to tune in for the answers!

1. What's the worst thing about your career?
When I say I truly love what I do, I’m not lying. Although some days are hard as a business owner, there is no way I would change it for anything else. With that said, I did share three things that I could personally live without (and one of them is timely!).
2. What are the tiny secrets when it comes to blogging that nobody is talking about?
I will give you a hint - I’m doing it in this post here! There is one little thing I discovered personally when bingeing blogs about motherhood that has made a huge difference for me over the last few years!

3. What is your favorite book you’ve read this year?
I’m giving this one away because I know you all like links! First, if you are a big reader too and want to stay updated with what I am reading (and what I am rating), come find me on Goodreads!
It’s still early in the year, but so far one of my favorite reads has been The Maid. We are reading it for the book club I’m in and it’s been so good so far!
For 2022, I narrowed it down to my top three:
Good Rich People was such a fun read. It was a little dark and twisty, but if you love satire you might love it like me!
Risen Motherhood - I can’t recommend this one highly enough if you are looking for a more spiritual read.
The Test was another one at the top of my list this year. I’ve been loving novellas lately and if you are looking for a shorter read, this one just might be the perfect starting point.
4. Where do you see yourself (professionally) when Colin is 18? And what is your ultimate career goal? What are the big dreams you have for yourself and your business?
This might be a different behind-the-scenes business owner answer than you were expecting, but I want to talk about it because different variations of the same question came through. The short answer is “I don’t know, and lately, I’ve been okay with not knowing.” I dive deeper into what I see the future holding in the episode and some of the reasons I don’t want to make a ten (or 20) year plan right now (at least for business!). I do talk more about what I want my personal life to look like, though!
5. Where do most of your clients come from? Social, referrals, etc. and what is the one thing you do consistently that brings you the most business?
If you’ve ever purchased from me, you’ve likely answered a version of a “where did you first hear about me” question. I actually do track this in Clickup, but sometimes it is hard to truly know because someone may follow me for a while before making a purchase and forget where they truly first found me. So for example, they may have watched me in a webinar I did with Dubsado, but then listened to the podcast for months before they bought a template.
That being said, I do dive into the data in the podcast and share where my top three sources of customers come from (and where I make it a priority to be the most consistent).

6. How is Colin's school going? How do you handle mom guilt/missing him?
Thank you for asking this because this has not been the easiest thing! In the episode, I talk about what we tried for child care first, what I regret doing, my “you don’t know what you don’t know” moment, and what’s been working for us over the last three months. And yes, I do address the dreaded “mom guilt” questions!
7. What does work/life balance look like for me right now?
This could easily be a whole episode on its own. I know I love listening to behind-the-scenes business owner' "day in the life" style posts! In the episode, I break down what a week looks like lately between Adam, Colin, and me. Right now, our schedule does not look like a typical “Monday to Friday” schedule but it does have a bit more consistency now, which I love.
8. What do you do for workouts?
If you tuned in last week, you know that working out is one of the habits I believe has contributed the most to my success. While most of the time my workouts consist more of walking outside or jogging on the treadmill, I do love Nourish Move Love on Youtube. I highly recommend her Strong in 20 Program!
9. Do you think you'll have any more kiddos? How will that impact the structure of your business?
This is another question I go a lot deeper into this question in the episode, but yes, we do want more kids! There are a few things that I’m thinking about when it comes to baby number two, and although a lot of what I’m thinking about is more personal things (like wanting a break from nursing before getting pregnant again), I also believe having more children will impact my business in BIG ways. Just like Colin did.
I personally loved not doing out-of-the-home childcare until Colin was older, so I would love to do that with baby #2 if it’s an option. That likely means there will likely be a season of hustle before the next baby comes, but personally, I feel like I am a mom first (even though I love my business), so if I have to give up “moving forward” in my business to spend more time with them now, that’s what I will choose to do.
10. What's your favorite brand of jeans?
Sharing the links here because I am obsessed with the Spanx fake denim. I personally have their ankle skinny jeans in white and denim and absolutely love both of them. I personally don’t like wearing jeans and these are amazing because they are leggings but they actually DO look like jeans (they are THICK - not like your typical “jegging”).
11. Do you ever regret going into business for yourself?
Not even a little bit! In fact, I truly believe it is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my entire life. The decision to follow Jesus, to marry Adam, and to become a mom are my best decisions - but starting my own business would be right after those on the list!
Do you love behind-the-scenes business owner Q&A style episodes?
As I said earlier, I had over 150 questions come in on my end-of-year survey so if this is something you want more of, I would be happy to share more! Find me over on Instagram and let me know!
